A 31-year-old man, Brempong Daniel, has been shot dead by an unknown assailant at Nkonya Kodzi in the Biakoye District of the Oti region.

The Commanding Officer of the 66 Artillery Regiment, Lieutenant Colonel Edward Sarpong Appiah told GBCNEWS that the deceased was shot dead at a restricted area in that part of the district at about 0700 hours on Monday, August 1, 2022.

According to him, the body of the deceased has been deposited at the Margaret Marquart Hospital for autopsy.

Lieutenant Colonel Edward Sarpong Appiah said the military with support from other security agencies have intensified patrols and were doing their best to bring thing under control.

According to him there is no established correlations between the murder and the conflict between Alavanyo and Nkonya.

This notwithstanding, suspicion is high and cautioned locals against entering the restricted area.

Yesterday’s killing comes after prolonged calm following efforts by stakeholders at addressing the long age land disputes between the people of Nkonya and Alavanyo, which had claimed several lives for over decades.
