President Akufo-Addo has appointed the Deputy Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Lariba Zuweira Abudu, as Minister designate for the Ministry.
This is in accordance with article 78 of the 1992 Constitution.
A statement signed by the Director of Communications at the Presidency, Eugene Arhin, said Madam Abudu’s appointment is subject to approval of Parliament.
The statement said pursuant to article 79 of the Constitution, the President has also nominated Member of Parliament for Kwabre East, Francisca Oteng Mensah as Deputy Minister designate for Gender, Children and Social Protection subject to Parliamentary approval.
It said the President is hopeful that Parliament will expedite the approval of the nominees, so that they can assist in the effective delivery of his mandate for his second term in office.
