A Senior Lecturer in Biochemistry at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Dr. Christopher Larbie has added his voice to calls by Civil Society Organisations on the need for some level of review of the Free Senior High School policy. According to him, a review of the policy could save the strain on the public purse and guarantee the best that Ghanaians desire for the country’s education system.
Dr. Larbie was speaking at the 12th Graduation ceremony for final year students of Kumasi Wesley Girls’ High School.
Razak Baba reports that the graduation ceremony for final year students of Kumasi Wesley Girls’High School has been an annual event. The graduating class of 2022 were made up of 764 students who were registered for the 2022 West African Secondary School Certificate Exammination.
The ceremony was also used to award those who completed school the previous year for their sterling performance in the WASSCE as well as teachers whose students performed well in their subjects. The school is among the best performing Secondary institutions in the Ashanti Region.
The School Prefect, Miss Christabel Nkunim Boateng on behalf of her colleagues promised to be good ambassadors for the school. In a sermon, the school chaplain, Reverend Dr. Amos Odoom charged the students to be proactive and hardworking to achieve their set goals in life.
The Headmistress, Very Reverend Monica Afrifa Ntiamoah commended the students for the successful completion of the WASSCE. She, however, reminded them of the challenges outside school and urged them to be circumspect amidst the uncertainties that they may have to go through in life, saying they should believe in themselves, improve their skills and talents in order to be women of substance.

The graduands presented a giant citation to the Headmistress, Very Reverend Monica Africa Ntiamoah for her continued support and guidance that had categorized the school as one of the best performing Secondary institutions in Ashanti and Ghana as a whole.
