In an answer to a question asked by Thelma the host on how her country can learn from Ghana’s challenges with illegal mining, the ambassador stated that a delegation from her country came to Ghana some 25 years ago to learn how Ghana dealt with land acquisition for mining activities.

She said her government back home is currently working on a law that will streamline the land tenure and acquisition system to make sure illegal mining is ended.

On other forms of similarities, they share with Ghana, she mentioned that Ghanaian and Suriname foods are similar. Key ones are fufu, gari and banku which she passionately spoke about, although they had different names.

When a Ghanaian visits Suriname, he/she will realize Ghana is in Suriname, not Ghana, she said on a lighter note.
