The Ashanti Regional Health Directorate in partnership with PATH Ghana has conducted health screening at Sofoline in the Kwadaso Municipality of the Ashanti Region to commemorate World Heart Day.

World Heart Day is celebrated globally on September 29 to create awareness on the risk factors that cause heart diseases and stroke, which are becoming the leading causes of deaths in Ghanaian adults.

World Heart Day was initiated by the World Heart Federation in 2011 and the theme for this year’s celebration was, “Use Heart For Every Heart”.

The health screening by the Ashanti Regional Health Directorate in partnership with PATH Ghana in the Kwadaso Municipality of the Ashanti Region was meant to provide the opportunity for the public to check their blood pressure and sustain advocacy drive to promote cardiovascular health among Ghanaians.

Those who took part in the exercise included drivers, passengers and traders.
