Global Hand Washing Day observed with emphasis on continuous education

The Global Hand Washing day was commemorated at the Sakyi Agyarkwa and Osaebo Cluster of Schools in the Nsawam Adoagyiri Municipality of the Eastern Region.

The day which is globally celebrated every October 15, 2022 is to create awareness on the need to properly wash hands with soap under running water.

It is against this backdrop that Densu Industries Limited, a cosmetics and disinfectant company organized a hand hygiene program in the school to educate pupils on the need to regularly wash their hands to help prevent infectious diseases like cholera, diarrhea, typhoid and Corona Virus.

A Staff of Densu Industries Limited, Theresa Attuah who took the pupils through the importance of hand washing on the theme “Unite for Universal Hand Hygiene” indicated that hand sanitizers can be used in the absence of water and soap.

The Managing Director of the Company, Lydia Fletcher in an interview with GBC News stressed the need of engaging the pupils on the importance of regularly washing their hands.

“We decided to help our community by targeting the school children because any habit you inculcate in them, they grow with it”, she added.

According to her, continuous education will help reduce infectious diseases in the country.

The Factory Manager of Densu Industries Limited, Benjamin Darko stated that the company decided to join the rest of the world to celebrate the day with Sakyi Agyarkwa and Osaebo to help the pupils propagate the awareness of hand washing to their families and friends.

 

“We will create the awareness in order for the pupils to know the importance of washing hands properly”, he noted.

Staff of the company demonstrated to the pupils how to properly wash their hands with samples of their products.

Additionally, the products of the company were presented to the school for usage to help promote hand hygiene among the pupils.
