Some residents of Paga and its environs in the Kasena-Nankana West District in the Upper East Region have expressed disappointment at the contractor working on the Agenda 111 project in the area. According to them, the contractor only pretended to be on site when the visit of the vice president was announced. The residents made this known to the media when vice president Dr. Mahamud Bawumia visited the project site.

The Paga-Zenga project is one of the government’s Agenda 111 hospital projects in the Upper East Region that are expected to be completed by 2023. But the pace of work is unsatisfactory according to residents. They said the Contractor, Akofis Engineering, abandoned the site for a long time but quickly came back pretending to be working because the vice president was visiting the site. They said the project is so dear to the people of Paga and would not sit unconcerned.

“We as youth of the Paga Community came here three months ago to see the progress of work. The consultant told us that the rains was impeding their work. We are surprised that today, not a single block has been added to the work. We are not impressed at all.” Peter Atiisi spoke to the media.

“The Consultant told us that he has no issues with funding. So what’s now the problem? This project is so dear to us here in Paga. They need to sit up and complete this project at the scheduled time. We as youth of the area are ever ready to give whatever support he may need for this project to progress.” Jonathan begged.
