Konongo hospital inaugurated

The President, Nana Akufo Addo has inaugurated a 60-capacity bed Hospital at Konongo, in the Asante Akyem Central Municipal of Ashanti.

The project which was executed by an Egyptian company, Euroget De-Invest, cost more than 35 five million US dollars.

Razak Baba reports that the inaugurated 60-bed Konongo Government Hospital formed part of many projects across the country which is being undertaken by an Egyptian company, Euroget De-Invest.

The Physical infrastructure, installations, equipment, and systems are on a 145 thousand square metre plot.

Testing of equipment, cleaning up of surfaces and systems, and some external work, such as decorations have also been undertaken.

The 60-bed Hospital is therefore the sixth to be handed over by the company, which has been awarded the contract to construct nine hospitals across the country.

Equipped with modern installations and a wider range of medical capacity, the Konongo Government Hospital is expected to serve as a referral facility, while, absorbing some pressure off the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi.

At the handing over ceremony which attracted scores of residents, including Chiefs and Opinion leaders, the Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Egyptian company, Euroget De-Invest, Dr. Said Deraz expressed the Company’s commitment to complete other projects including the Afari Military Hospital by next year. He assured the government and residents of maintaining the facility in the next three years.

The Konongohene, Nana Dr. Awuah Abedimisa, appealed to the government to help to fence the newly built hospital to prevent encroachment and also to provide security for the facility and the staff.

He also appealed to the government to construct more access roads in and around the Municipality to ensure smooth movement in the city.

President Akufo Addo also commended the Contractor for the good work done.

He assured Ghanaians of the Government’s commitment ”to complete all hospital projects in 2023”.
