Workers at the Volta Aluminum Company, VALCO, have called for the dismissal of 12 retirees of the Company who are still at post.

According to the aggrieved workers, the continuous presence of the retirees at the Company, after the revamping of the Company is affecting its financial gains.

The Local Union Chairman of VALCO, Edgar Tetteh said “it is worrying how the Company has failed to peg its 310-dollar basic rate to the current dollar rate, but still pay these retirees who are on contracts huge sums of money with high allowances”.

According to the Union Spokesperson, the local Union workers will not go back to work until Management listens to their concerns and does the needful.
