The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Ga Mantse and Vice President Bawumia arrive in the Volta region to mark the 60th anniversary of Hogbetsotso festival on the invite of the Awoamefia Togbi Sri III.
Asantehene and his entourage joined the chiefs and people of the 36 states of Anlo on Saturday, November 5 to celebrate the annual traditional festival, Hogbetsotsoza.
The Ga Mantse, Nii Tackie Teiko Tsuru II also arrived with his entourage to grace the festival.
Other chiefs, Ministers and musicians and diasporans were also in attendance to mark the historic ceremony.
Hogbetsotso festival is celebrated on the first Saturday of November each year to commemorate the legendary exodus of the Ewe-Dogbo folks from Notsie in present-day neighbouring Togo.
This year’s celebration is on the theme “60 Years of Anlo Hogbetsotso Za: Uniting for development, sustaining our unique cultural commonwealth for future generations.”
The celebration is returning this year after its suspension in 2020 and 2021 in compliance with COVID-19 protocols.
