GJA releases list of award winners: GBC to Pick 4

Ghana Broadcasting Corporation’s Peggy Ama Donkor, Mavis Offei Acheampong, Beatrice Senadju, and Obonu FM’s Negb3 Ny3sh3 programme are among a total of 22 Journalists and 3 Shows nominated for the 26th Edition of the 2021 GJA Awards.

Announcing the nominees at a news conference in Accra, the President of the Ghana Journalists Association, Mr. Albert Dwumfuor said the 2022 event would be one of the best in the history of the awards.

The award categories for this year were reduced. In all, 137 entries were received. The Chairperson of the 26^th GJA Awards Committee, Yaa Oforiwah Asare-Peasah noted that some of the entries had issues and were therefore not considered at all. The hitches included wrong categorization, poor organization of content, poor quality of presentation, such as scanning of photocopied materials, making reading totally impossible. Others are running videos without audio, disjointed sentences and incoherent flow of ideas, among others. Madam Yaa Oforiwah Asare-Peasah said in spite of all these hiccups, the committee members were equal to the task and delivered on schedule.

The theme for this year’s awards is “Walking the path towards economic recovery: The role of the Media”. The President of the Ghana Journalists Association, Mr Albert Dwumfuor said the theme reflects the association’s commitment to the development of the country. He commended the committee for their dedication and hard work.

This year’s GJA Awards ceremony is scheduled to take place at the Kempinski Hotel in Accra, on November 12, 2022.
