The Ad-hoc Committee constituted to probe allegations made by the Minority in Parliament per their motion of censure against the Finance Minister, will start its sittings today, November 15, 2022.
The proceedings of the Committee will be telecast live.
A member of the Committee, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa disclosed this on News and Current Affairs programme ‘Behind the News’. According to him, the live telecast is to allow the Committee to be transparent to the citizenry.
The Committee, has seven days to submit its report. Mr Ablakwa disclosed that the Finance Minister has been invited for the hearing.
Meanwhile, the New Patriotic Party, NPP Caucus in Parliament are still insistent that Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, must go.
The insistence comes on the back of President Akufo-Addo terminating the appointment of Minister of State for Finance, Charles Adu Boahen.
Spokesperson for the MPs on the removal of the Finance Minister, Andy Appiah Kubi on ‘Behind the News’ said the Caucus have made it clear that they are not ready to work with the Finance Minister.
Ranking Member on the Foreign Affairs Committee and MP for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has welcomed the termination of Charles Adu Boahene’s appointment. He was however not happy that the Special Prosecutor has been tasked to take up investigations.
Speaking on ‘Behind the News’, Mr. Ablakwa said referring the matter to the OSP is too narrow as that may just focus on an aspect of the investigation.

Meanwhile, Private Legal Practitioner Martin Kpebu says the termination of Charles Adu Boahen’s appointment is a vindication of issues some of them have raised that those at the Finance Ministry are benefiting from Ghana’s current economic woes.
