Vice President, Mahamudu Bawumia has reiterated that the government recognizes the challenging moments Ghanaians are facing and is confident government will turn things around for the benefit of all.
“As Ghanaians go through this difficult times let us not throw out their hands in despair but remain focused and support the Akufo Addo led government to as work assiduously to address to challenges.
Vice President Bawumia said this at the 70th Anniversary and Homecoming the ‘Our Lady of Mercy’ Catholic Church , OLAM at Tema.
It was on the theme: OLAM @ 70, honouring the past, celebrating the present and looking into the future with hope.
Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia commended the Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, OLAM for being the first Catholic Church to be planted in Tema.
The OLAM Catholic Church has been a lighthouse in providing light and salvation to the industrial city of Tema.
Quoting the scriptures,Vice President Bawumia noted that in Issah 41, as believers the people must recognize that as children of God, “there will always be moments of hopelessness, despair, doubt, fear and uncertainty”.
He admonished Ghanaians to remain steadfast in God as He remains the hope and strength of all especially during difficulties.
The Vice President commended the Church for investmenting in the construction of a multi-purpose complex that will come with a skills training centre, a library and an auditorium in Tema Community One.
He pledged to support the project as it will help to address the unemployment situation in Tema and the nation as a whole.
Throwing more light on the Anniversary project, Chairman of the Parish Pastoral Council, Richard Akpokavi, explained that Tema as a port city and the first community where Catholicism started from deserved to be rewarded in ways that give back to the community.
He noted that “skilled labour is one of the key requirements in a port city like Tema and it is what the Parish wishes to give back to the youth through the Center”.
Prayers were said for leadership of the Country and the nation at large.
