The Headmaster of Bishop Herman College at Kpando in the Volta Region, Francis Dominic Kudolo, has appealed to the government to initiate processes for work to resume on an abandoned GETFund classroom block and dormitory projects to ease congestion at the school.

The college currently lacks adequate classrooms and dormitories to accommodate the increasing student population of nearly 2,500. Mr. Kudolo, who made the appeal at the 70th Anniversary and Speech and Prize Giving Day Celebration of the College, was hopeful that the two abandoned projects will provide enough space for students to study and live when completed.

Bishop Herman College (BIHECO) was established in 1952 at Kpando in the Volta Region by the Catholic Church and has since produced numerous quality human resources who are contributing to the country’s development in various sectors of the economy. Despite the college being a grade A institution due to its academic excellence, infrastructural deficits have been a major challenge to effective teaching and learning on campus in recent times.

Apart from the benevolence of past students who have provided some facilities, the college has not seen a significant development in terms of infrastructure for the past seven decades of its existence. Dilapidated buildings and uncompleted projects are visible all over the campus. The Headmaster of the College, Francis Dominic Kudolo, renewed his appeal to the government and other stakeholders to come to their aid after previous calls for help yielded no results.

The Kpando Municipal Director of Education, Hilda Amegatse, commended the Catholic Church, old students, and staff for their contributions towards the growth of the college in its 70-year milestone.

She pledged the support of her office and solicited collaboration among key stakeholders to ensure that BIHECO retained its status as a centre of excellence going forward.

Hardworking teaching staff and students who excelled in academics were awarded.
