The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) Director of Communications, Mr. Richard Ahiagbah is urging the opposition party in Ghana, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to court with what he teamed ‘hardcore’ evidence.
The NPP Director of Communications said in his reaction to the dismissal of the NDC Techiman South parliamentary election petition by the Wenchi High Court.
The election petition was filed by the 2020 Parliamentary Candidate for the NDC, Mr. Christopher Beyere Baasongti against the Electoral Commission (EC), Ghana, and the NPP 2020 Parliamentary Candidate Mr. Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah, who was declared the winner.
Mr. Beyere Baasongti and the NDC cited irregularities in the collation of results and subsequent declarations as some of the reasons for the petition.
The party believed that the verdict was stolen for the NPP Candidate by the elections management body for which they went to Court.
Commenting on the dismissal of the case in a tweet, Mr. Ahiagbah said “Memo to the NDC: 1. Stop going to court without evidence 2. Stop making rush claims about electoral malpractice and attacking the EC without evidence.
“Trust the electoral process to save lives!”
The Wenchi High Court in its verdict on Wednesday, November 30, 2022, also fined the main opposition party GHS100, 000.
