Former First Lady Mrs. Rawlings launches book

A Former First Lady of Ghana, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings has launched a memoir/book dubbed “It takes a Woman”, the first in a sequel she intends to write.

The book which tells the life stories of the former first lady also gives an insight to some happenings and history of the country.

Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia who launched the book described the Former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings as a woman who in her own rights has made an indelible imprints on the Ghanaian society and in politics.


The book, It takes a Woman depicts the life of the former first lady showing her courage, independent personality, intellect and her forthrightness.

The Chairman for the occasion, Oheneba Lovelace Prempeh described Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings as a proud Ghanaian with an impeccable pedigree adding that the book has come at an opportune as it shows the role women have played and continue to play in the society.

Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia said the former first lady can be described as a tree which has provided shade for many in times of need.

Being one of the first to read the book, Vice President Bawumia while applauding her said she is a true woman who was resolute for the fight in women’s emancipation.

Former first lady Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings used the occasion to encourage Ghanaians and Africa as a whole to pen down happenings for future generations.

Former first lady of Nigeria, Mrs Fatima Abubakar, Ace Broadcaster, Kwami Sefa Kayi and one of the daughters of the Rawlinges, Yaa Asantewaa Rawlings took turns to read some chapters of the book.

The book launch attract high rank personalities including the First Lady, Rebecca Akufo Addo, wife of the Vice President, Samira Bawumia and Former Chief Justice, Georgina Theodora Woode. The first copy of the book was auctioned for twelve thousand Ghana cedis book.
