President Akufo-Addo off to US-Africa Leaders Summit in Washington D.C

President Akufo-Addo is expected to join other African leaders in Washington D.C., for the US-Africa Leaders’ Summit, which commences on Tuesday, December 13.

The conference, which will be hosted by US President Joe Biden, will demonstrate commitment of the US to Africa. It will also deepen US-Africa relations and increase cooperation on shared global priorities.

Speaking to the media, US Ambassador to Ghana, Virginia Palmer, indicated that Africa is important to the United States, adding that President Biden will use the summit to speak on issues of mutual concern, such as climate, global security, democracy, economic progress, recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as preparedness for pandemics.

Ambassador Palmer said President Akufo-Addo will play a leading role in a youth and diaspora summit as part of the event. The US-Africa Leaders’ Summit will provide an opportunity for all participating leaders and their countries to amplify diaspora ties while promoting education and youth leadership.
