Caprice Robbery: Two robbers shot dead; one other arrested

Two robbers involved in the Caprice robbery incident that occurred on Friday, December 9, 2022 in Accra have been shot dead by the Anti-robbery Unit of the Ghana Police Service.

A statement released by the Ghana Police Service indicated that a third person also involved in the robbery has been arrested.

The robbers were found at ‘Gap’ a suburb of Liberia Camp in the Central Region. The location is “believed” to be a hideout for hardened criminals.

Intelligence by the Anti-robbery Unit on December 11, 2022 led to the hideout of the robbers at Liberia camp. The robbers engaged the police in a gunfire and in the process, a Police Officer was shot.

The officer is currently receiving medical treatment at the Police Hospital in Accra.

Monies retrieved from the robbers has been taken by the Unit and will be used as an exhibit.

The Ghana Police Service wishes to assure the public of its safety and promises to bring all perpetrators involved to book.

Meanwhile, the Minister for the Interior, Ambrose Dery, has visited the Police Officer who was shot and injured during a shootout between the police and some of the Caprice armed robbers on Monday, December 12, 2022.
