The Maternity Ward of the Adidome Government Hospital in the Central Tongu District of the Volta Region needs a facelift.
The Ward has not seen any massive rehabilitation since it was established several decades ago as part of the larger Hospital project.
The facility which is the major healthcare and Baby Delivery Centre for expectant mothers in the Adidome enclave and its environs has two delivery beds and lacks adequate equipment for healthcare services.
After a number of requests,  the Hospital Staff are again appealing to Philanthropists and benevolent organisations to assist to refurbish the Ward into an ultra modern status.
The Nurse in Charge at the facility, Charlotte Mamattah made the appeal when MTN Ghana Foundation donated hampers to mothers and their newborn babies who were delivered during this festive season.
“We would like to call on individuals or organisations to assist us refurbish our dilapidated ward and delivery room for quality service delivery. We would also be glad if an ultra modern maternity ward is built for us. It is the dream of the staff to see that materialised”, she said.
This year’s donation which is the 10th year in a row by the MTN Ghana Foundation has been an annual event to show appreciation to new born mothers nationwide during the Christmas festive season.
All mothers and their newborn babies present were given hampers and free MTN airtime.
The Head of Corporate Communications at MTN Ghana, Georgina Asare Fiagbenu noted that the gesture is as part of MTN’s corporate social responsibility. Staff at the ward and newborn mothers thanked MTN for the hampers.
Mrs Asare Fiagbenu urged management of the Hospital to officially appeal to the MTN Ghana Foundation for support to refurbish the maternity ward which will duly be considered.
