Bamboo was once considered a humble material, but increasingly it is being treated and used in high-end, smart and sustainable architectural projects.
A stunning home designed by architectural firm Ibuku is made almost entirely with the timber, and is largely open-plan so that a cooling breeze can blow through it. The residence is located among the trees in tranquil rainforest.
“We really try to find a way to position our buildings quite lightly and snuggle them in carefully in the sites, because the sites are so beautiful,” says Elora Hardy, founder and creative director of Ibuku. Nature is integral to what the firm does, she says. “We can gain so much by reconnecting with it.”
