The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia has been speaking about the recent reshuffle by the party among the Minority Caucus in Parliament.

Addressing NDC members in the UK and Ireland in London, Mr. Asiedu Nketiah insisted that extensive consultations were done before the leadership of the NDC decided to reshuffle the Minority leadership.

Mr. Asiedu Nketia said his priorities as National Chairman of the NDC were to see the NDC Parliamentary Caucus working together and also cooperating with the Speaker of Parliament. He said the party cannot have a situation where the NPP leadership is cooperating with the Speaker but not the NDC, which owns the Speaker.

He said the NDC leadership in Parliament was not working together, and if that happens, there needs to be changes.

According to Mr. Asiedu Nketia, those who are claiming nobody was consulted, the decision was one of the most consultative.

He said as a leader, he takes full responsibility for the decision, and he does not want anybody to blame anybody at all for the decision.

He declared, “Why did we struggle to get an NDC person elected as Speaker of Parliament? There are certainly some advantages, and those advantages can be tapped into when your leadership is cooperating with the Speaker. So we cannot have a situation where the NPP leadership is cooperating with the Speaker and our NDC leadership has challenges cooperating with the Speaker.”

“And if you are given a party whose leadership in Parliament is not working together, what will you do? You make the changes or you resign,’’ Mr. Asiedu-Nketia posited.
