Private University owners elect National Executives

Members of the Private Universities Founders Association -Ghana (PUFAG), on Wednesday, February 15, 2023, went to the polls to elect its national executives.

At the end of the polls, the founder of Wisconsin International University College, Ghana, Dr. Paul Kofi Fynn, was elected President of the newly formed association.

The founder of Regent University College, Rev. Prof.  E. K. Larbi, was elected Vice President; Dr. Ernest Ansah of Data Link Institute of Business and Technology was elected Secretary.

The founder of JACCD Design Institute, Mrs. Joyce Ababio, and Prof. Afua Hesse of Accra College of Medicine were elected treasurer and executive member, respectively.

The Constitution of PUFAG was adopted on the 7th day of February, 2023 at the WISCONSIN International University College Ghana has become fully operational after some proposed amendments at its third meeting held today, Tuesday, February 7th 2023 were ratified and signed by all members present.

Addressing the media at the end of the elections, the president of the group thanked members for their fortitude and foresight in seeing the dream of having an association come true.

Dr. Fynn, however, called on members to continue supporting the executive council in whatever way possible to ensure the growth of the association.

He assured members of PUFAG of the executive council’s commitment and readiness to serve the association with integrity, fairness, and impartiality.

The elections were held at the north Legon campus of the WISCONSIN International University College Ghana.

Background

Fifteen Private Tertiary institutions across Ghana have come together to form an Association.

The Association, according to the Conveners, is to bring all Private Tertiary institutions under one umbrella so as to speak with a common voice and champion the interests of Private Tertiary institutions in Ghana.

The following are some of the private tertiary institutions which have come together to form the a Association: Regent University College of Science and Technology, All Nations University, Wisconsin International University College, Kings University College, and Garden City University College.

The rest are the Data Link Institute of Business and Technology, Jackson Education Complex, Noble International Business School, MountCrest University Collage, and Spiritan University Collage.

The agreement for the formation of the Association was reached at its maiden meeting held at the North Legon Campus of Wisconsin International University Collage, Ghana on January 13, 2023.
