An 11 member Board of Trustees has been set up by the Board of Directors of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital with the responsibility of managing the Hospital’s Endowment Fund, an initiative to raise funds to address operational challenges of the hospital.
Members of the Board of Trustees include Kwabena Kesse, a bussinesman, ,Dr.K K Sarpong, CEO of GNPC and Dr.Oheneba Owusu-Danso, Chief Executive of the Hospital.
The Trustees have been tasked to encourage public-spirited individuals and organizations to support the hospital to achieve its goal in the health delivery system.
The Chief Executive of KATH, Dr.Oheneba Owusu Danso said the hospital needs 120 million Cedis to resources required to improve both infrastructure and equipment describing the initiative as a timely intervention.
He said though the Board and the Management are doing their best to address some of the challenges of the hospital, the Internally Generate Funds alone cannot resolve all its operational bottlenecks Dr. K.Owusu-Danso said apart from the 120 million Cedis, the hospital also needs a projected 140 million dollars for the completion of the its 43 year Maternal and Children’s block which government has pledged to complete in the next two years.
The Board Chairman of KATH and Paramount Chief of Bompata Traditional Area, Nana Effah Apenteng appealed to the public to contribute generously towards the endowment fund.
