Dagomba descendants in the Eastern Region have climaxed their annual Damba festival in Koforidua with a call on indigenes, both home and abroad to form a formidable body to bring more developments to the Dagbon State.
The Eastern Regional Dagomba Chief, Naa Usman Adam, who made the call urged all Dagombas to bury their differences and chart new paths towards development.
The significance of the festival is to commemorate the birthday of the Holy Prophet of Islam, Mohammed.
Damba is a thanksgiving festival and a time for families to meet and socialize. The festival brought together all Dagombas in the Eastern Region.
The Eastern Regional Dagomba Chief, Naa Usman Adam advised them to lead exemplary lives.
He noted the youth are often used by politicians to cause mayhem especially during elections and cautioned them against such acts ahead of the 2024 general election.
The Gyasehene of the New Juaben Traditional Area, Nana Twumasi Dankwah commended the Dagombas in New Juaben for their outstanding role in the development of the area.
He said the ties between the Ashantis and the Dagombas can be traced to their forefathers.
He urged Dangomba parents to give formal education to their children since that is the only legacy, they can bequeath them.
The New Juaben South Municipal Chief Executive, Isaac Appau-Gyasi who was enstooled as a sub chief at the ceremony was grateful for the honour done him and pledged his commitment to work hard to justify the confidence reposed in him.
