The Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Mrs. Jean Mensa, has reiterated that the Ghana Card will not be used as replacement for the voter’s ID but only a requirement which will identify one as a Ghanaian eligible to vote.
She said the Ghana Card will be used in the registration process since it captures adequate details of the voter.
Madam Mensah said the Commission has no intention to disenfranchise anyone.
She made the statement when she appeared before Parliament this afternoon to brief members on the laying of a new C.I in the House.
Mrs. Jean Mensah urged Parliament to support the E.C to rely on the Ghana Card as the main source of identification for voters.
