President Akufo-Addo has commended the efforts of women for the role they play in the development of the country.
According to him, women in Ghana sacrifice for the nation and have to be congratulated.
He said this on the occasion of International Women’s Day when he delivered the 2023 state of the nation address on Wednesday, March 8.
“Allow me to acknowledge and appreciate the significance of the day and heartily congratulate women all over the world and especially women in Ghana for the role they play in realising the dreams, cares, and aspirations of humankind and of this great nation.”
President Akufo-Addo indicated that women advance lives, including those of men.
He also stated that this year’s theme recognises and celebrates women who are championing the advancement of transformative technology and digital education.
“The presence of women leaders at both the local and national front have advanced rights, enhanced equality, and in general improved the living standards and quality of lives of all concerned, including that of men.”
International Women’s Day (March 8) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. The day is also marked to promote global support for women and marks a call to action for accelerating women’s equality.
The theme for 2023 “DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality,” highlights the role of innovative technology in promoting gender equality and meeting the health and developmental needs of women and girls.
