Huang Lei, the son of galamsey queen Aisha Huang, was found guilty and sentenced to a GH10,800 fine on his own plea after pleading guilty to charges of remaining in Ghana after his permit expired, possessing ammunition without lawful authority, and possessing forged official documents.

Huang Lei was arrested along with other Chinese nationals in November of last year for the same offense.

The accused had previously pleaded not guilty to the charges before Justices Lydia Osei Marfo.

However, on December 16, 2022, Huang Lei’s lawyer revealed plans for his client to change his plea to guilty. Following that, Aisha Huang’s son pleaded guilty in front of Justice Comfort Tasiame at the criminal court 4

The court then sentenced him to a GH10,800 fine and deportation grounded on his plea.

The other accused persons, on the other hand, are still on trial for the same charges and are scheduled to return to court on April 5 for a case management conference.
