Ghana’s senior national football team, the Black Stars today, March 23, 2023, play their Angolan counterparts in an African Cup of Nations qualifier at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

The return match which will be played on Sunday will be in Angola.

The winner of the two ties will qualify for the tournament in Cote d’Ivoire.

The match which will be played in the evening is the first for the Black Stars after their group stage exit from the Qatar World Cup last December.

Ghana and Angola have met six times across all competitions.

The Black Stars have recorded three wins compared to Palancas Negras’ one victory, while two games ended in a draw.

The last time Ghana defeated Angola was in 2010 when Angola hosted the AFCON and Asamoah Gyan’s 16th minute-goal earned Ghana a 1-0 win over Angola in a quarterfinal match in Luanda.
