Akenten Appiah-Menka University to introduce Nursing and Midwifery courses next academic year

The Akenten Appiah-Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Skills will from next academic year introduce a degree course in Nursing and Midwifery.

The university as part of preparations for the new programme is developing Skills Laboratory offices and other infrastructure to make the programme outstanding.

The Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Kwaku Sarfo disclosed this at the University’s matriculation.

The matriculation ceremony was the third since it became a fully-fledged public tertiary institution. It is the only tertiary university mandated to produce products with employable skills.

It is also the only university to train qualified graduates to teach in the technical and vocational training institutions across the country to help government to meet its vision of producing skilled labour force for accelerated development.

Among its objectives is to help phase out the so-called unemployment graduate’s association in the country. 7,077 undergrads were matriculated to pursue various programmes at the Asante Mampong and Kumasi campuses.

The Vice Chancellor, Professor Kwaku Sarfo said approval has been given by the Public Procurement Authority for management to furnish its 1500-seater capacity lecture halls.

Another 3,500 capacity Executive Students Association lecture block has also been completed and handed over.

An ultra-modern Entrepreneurialship and Business Incubator Centre is also ready while approval has also been given for work to resume on the multi-purpose three thousand 500 capacity auditorium which started decades ago.

The Vice chancellor advised the students to take advantage o numerous opportunities in the university to study hard and come out fully equipped to make them responsible future leaders.
