NDC elections: 75 aspirants filed to contest as Parliamentary candidates in Volta Region

A total of seventy-five (75) persons have successfully filed to contest as the Parliamentary Candidates for the 2024 Parliamentary elections on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress in the Volta Region at the close of nominations.

In all two of the Aspirants, sitting Members of Parliament in persons of Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa and Charles Agbeve for North Tongu and Agortime Ziope are going unopposed.

The party closed nominated on 22nd March 2023 nationwide and set date-25th, 26th, and 27th March 2023 for the vetting of Volta Aspirants which will be done at three different locations-Hohoe Party Office, Hohoe, Regional Office, Ho, and at the Ketu North Constituency Office, Dzodze respectively.

Ketu North recorded the highest number of Aspirants of eight (8) without the incumbent, James Klutsey Avedzi who retired voluntarily, this is followed by Ho Central with Seven (7) Aspirants also without the sitting MP, Benjamin Kpodo, Anlo, and Hohoe (NPP MP) have Six Aspirants each whereas South Dayi, Akatsi North have the lowest number of Aspirants including the sitting MPs in persons of Etsey Roackson Dafeamekpor and Peter Nortsu-Kotoe.

NDC sets 13th May 2023 for the nationwide exercise to elect the Parliamentary Candidates in all the Sisteen (16) Regions at the Constituency level and the venue for the conference will be determined by the Constituency Election Committee in consultation with the Party’s National General Secretary.
