A delegation from the Greater Accra Regional Command of the Ghana National Fire Service led by the Regional Commander ACFO 1 Roberta Aggrey Ghanson, on Thursday interacted with management of Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, GBC.
The visit is to forge stronger relations between the two Institutions.
Partnering institutions to build stronger relations is focal for the Ghana National Fire Service.
The courtesy call at GBC was first to introduce the Greater Accra Regional Commander, ACFO 1 Roberta Aggrey Ghanson to management of the Corporation. She assumed Office as the Regional Commander a few months ago. Of priority therefore is to meet and strengthen existing ties between the two organisations.
The Greater Accra Regional Commander, ACFO 1 Roberta Aggrey Ghanson was grateful to GBC for its support over the years.
According to ACFO 1 Aggrey Ghanson, ‘Without GBC, it is difficult to get to the public with the safety messages’.
‘We see it important for the message of fire to get to the external and internal client. and I would say thank you for this great opportunity GBC is giving to Ghana National Fire Service.’
The Deputy Director General of GBC, Mr. Augustus Yamson, encouraged the GNFS to continue with its nationwide education about fires and how to prevent them.
“Seeing what is happening in Ghana, you have done well to curtail the incidence of the outbreaks and I believe that education will continue”.
“As Ghanaians, we need education and we see that you are always on top of education, educating us how to prevent this fire service”.
“GBC, is thankful to GNFS and GBC Fire Safety Unity (GBCFSU) who are always with the Corporation , twenty-four hours. “
The Director of Television Mr. George Lomotey described the visit as timely, as it will benefit the two Institutions and the public.
Mr. Lomotey said, “now the relationship between GBC and GNFS has become more cordial. That in the past, sometimes you need assistance and support from GBC and yes, although you do get it, now it looks like the response is faster than before”.
“We believe it is something we can hold on to, because we need each other to educate the public, especially on your mandate which is very key to our audience as well”.
The team also took a tour of some offices including GBC’s Newsroom and the news studios. The team made some observations and recommendations to management.
