The Trades Union Congress (TUC) is demanding the government to consider changing from the original plan for the National Cathedral project into a hospital facility.

Speaking at the 2023 May Day parade in Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region, the Secretary-General of the TUC, Dr. Anthony Yaw Baah said changing the National Cathedral into a hospital facility will better serve the generality of Ghanaians.

Organized labour also made other demands of the government at the May Day Parade.

Among the demands are that the government cuts expenditure by reducing the size of government, as a way of managing the economy.

”Cut all unessential expenditures, reduce the size of government. Ghana has too many Ministers and Deputy Ministers,” the TUC Secretary-General noted.

Dr. Yaw Baah also appealed to President Akufo-Addo to revamp the Tema Oil Refinery, TOR for the economic benefit of Ghanaians.

He also said the Saglemi Housing Project should not be left to rot, but, put to good use for workers, as a way of addressing Ghana’s economic woes.

The 2023 May Day parade is on the theme: “Protecting incomes and pensions in an era of economic crisis: Our responsibility”.
