Ghana has seven years to achieve the SDG target of reducing maternal mortality to less than 70 per 100,000 live births. According to the State of the World’s Midwifery report, equitable access to skilled birth attendance during delivery and well-trained midwives working in a fully functional environment could help avert roughly two-thirds of all maternal and newborn deaths.
