The president of the Ghana Football Association, (GFA) Kurt Okraku has lauded the chairman of the Volta Regional Football Association, (VRFA) Daniel Agbogah for the massive transformation and development of the sport in the region.

The Regional FA has witnessed a lot of change since the torch of leadership was passed on to Daniel Agbogah in October 2019.

“I’m proud to say that now there is football in almost every district of the Volta Region, this is a very good indication of our determination in fixing the fundamentals.” Mr. Okraku said.

“Kudos to Daniel and his Executive Council, they are doing a yeoman’s job by fixing the fundamentals and once we continue in that state it will grow and grow”

“Football is built from the grassroots, and if it is that we are opening the channels for players that is boys and girls across the Volta Region spectrum to have access to football then we are doing a good job,” He added.

Mr. Okraku was in the region to witness the coronation of Kpando Hearts of Lions who have sealed qualifications to the Ghana Premier League and to commission three GFA Borehole Projects in the Volta Region.

For the first time in the history of football in the Volta Region, the Daniel Agbogah-led administration has secured a headline sponsorship deal with Adonai Estate Limited and a water company, Kristar Water as an associate sponsor.

The newly introduced Volta FA Cup also has a sponsor, I.e. the Afe Lotto Volta FA Cup, sponsored by From Home Company Limited.

Under his tenure, the region has augmented and trained scouts, coaches, and referees under the “Catch Them Young” policy, a referees development policy Mr. Agbogah speaks highly of.

For refereeing, though it has its public challenges, the Daniel Agbogah-led FA believes the process would soon be impactful.

The introduction of a new marketing committee coupled with an active social media presence has intensified the visibility and works of the Regional FA lately.

A few administrative changes and add-ons have also taken place at the secretariat which contributes to the growth of football in the region.

“For the first time in so many years, a team from the second division has qualified for the first division and retained its status as a Division One club, i.e. Akatsi All Stars and this is a big plus that Kpando Hearts of Lions have gone to the Premier League. Volta Rangers are in Division One which means football in this region is growing,” Mr. Okraku said.
