The Special Prosecutor (SP), Kissi Agyebeng, is said to meet Member of Parliament, MP, for Asante Akyem North, Andy Appiah-Kubi over his allegation that a wealthy businessman offered Majority MPs money to drop their call on Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta to resign.
Mr. Appiah-Kubi led more than 70 MPs to demand the immediate resignation of Mr. Ofori-Atta as the economy went into deep crisis.
The MP’s believed Mr. Ofori-Atta’s continuous stay in office would not exude any confidence in the investor community.
The President therefore intervened and urged the MPs to hold on with their demands till after the presentation of the 2023 Budget and the conclusion of the IMF negotiations.
When the Minister failed to resign after the budget presentation, Mr. Appiah-Kubi in one of his media engagements alleged that a wealthy businessman met the Majority MPs and offered them money to back down on their demands.
He confirmed to GBC’s Bubu Klinogo that the Special Prosecutor will be meeting him together with the Majority Leader, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu in Parliament.
The meeting is expected to uncover the said businessman and the veracity of the allegation.
GBC News will be monitoring the meeting and bring you updates on it.
