The Chief Executive of the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission Ben Arthur says he does not agree with GBC staff who are up in arms due to some allowances taken off from their payroll.
The commission has taken off rent and car maintenance allowance from the payroll due to what the commission believes is not due some categories of workers.
Mr. Arthur said the assertion that the removal of the allowances will make GBC workers worse off than they already are not true.
He added that all allowances due staff which have been negotiated at 82 percent have been approved and will be paid in May.
Mr. Arthur said the commission exists to ensure better working conditions for workers but would not compromise on cases of allowances which are not due some categories of workers as in the case of GBC.
He said a cleaner on GBC payroll is paid a domestic staff allowance, an anomaly which should be corrected.
