Members of the Pensioner Bondholders Forum, who have been demanding payment of seven outstanding coupons say they have started receiving some payments.
As a result, they will not be picketing at the Ministry of Finance on Thursday, June 29, 2023 as planned. This was contained in a statement signed by the Forum’s Convener, Dr. Adu Anane Antwi.
The pensioners had announced that if their outstanding coupons were not paid, they would continue with their picketing on Thursday, June 29, 2023, but rescinded the decision when they started receiving payment on Wednesday, June 28, 2023 .
The statement said it is the hope of the forum that the payment will cover all the outstanding coupons; that is coupons due from 5th June to 26th June 2023, adding that within the month of July, ten coupons will become due and payable.
The statement reiterates that the pensioners will picket the Ministry of Finance, anytime it delays in the payment of their coupons and principals.
Members of the Pensioner Bondholders Forum expressed optimism that their coupons will be prioritized as promised by the Ministry of Finance and paid as and when due, to forestall any subsequent picketing by members of the Forum.
