The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), has begun the installation of 40,000 new prepaid meters in the Western Region.
Leading the ECG management team to visit the various areas where the meters are being installed, the Regional General Manager of ECG, Emmanuel Justice Ofori, said aside from the deployment of the new meters, there is an ongoing installation exercise for customers who earlier applied for smart meters.
Mr Ofori encouraged customers interested in the new smart meters to apply.
He said the arrival of meters will bring satisfaction to customers and curb the delays in the acquisition of meters.
Mr Ofori said ECG remains committed to offering quality services to customers.
Touching on the issue of unpaid bills, Mr Ofori said measures have been put in place to retrieve the arrears.
He also cautioned the public to avoid doing business with unscrupulous persons with the aim of getting quick results but rather visit the offices of the company for their electricity related services.
Some customers who received the new meters were grateful to the company.
They commend the company for introducing smart meters and the ECG Power App.
