President Akufo-Addo has received letters of credence from envoys of six countries at separate ceremonies at the Jubilee House.
They are Ambassador of Türkiye (Turkey) to Ghana, Hüseyin Güngor; Ambassador of Ethiopia to Ghana, Teferi Fikre Gossaye; Ambassador of Mali to Ghana, Konate Oumar; Ambassador of Cote D’Ivoire to Ghana, Assiélou Félix Tanon; Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Ghana, Sultan Abdulrahman Al-Dakhel; and Ambassador of Colombia to Ghana, Daniel Garces Carabali.
President Akufo-Addo congratulated the new envoys and assured them of government’s continued support to further strengthen bilateral relations with their respective countries. Ghana and Turkey have had a strong relationship in the last 6 to 12 years.
The President stated that he hopes to deepen and strengthen relations even more during his tenure. He said Turkey has proven to be a good friend of Ghana.
He expressed appreciation to the government of Turkey for its contribution to the growth of the economy and the contribution of Turkish companies. President Akufo-Addo asked the Ethiopian diplomat to take advantage of the AfCFTA to enhance economic relations on the African continent. He was hopeful that the conflict in his country would end soon.
At the turn of Mali, the President urged the transitional leader in Mali to respect the agreed timetable to hand over power to civilian administration. He said Ghana will stand with Mali in the fight against terrorism. He expressed delight at the pledges made by the new envoys to work towards the deepening of trade and economic ties between Ghana and their respective countries, noting that his administration stands ready to ensure that their stay in Ghana is successful.
The envoys pledged to strengthen development cooperation with Ghana, particularly in the fields of education, science and technology, and climate change, among others.
