Speaker of Parliament enskined as “Tinmaali-Naa” [Development Chief] of Takpo Traditional Area

The Takpo Traditional Council has enskined and outdoored the Speaker of Parliament, the Right Honourable A.S.K. Bagbin, as “Tinmaali-Naa” of Takpo Traditional Area in Upper West.

“Tinmaali-Naa” in Dagaare means Development Chief. The stool name of the Speaker is Naa Suuniyong Maalu Sunmaali Bagbin.

In this report, GBC’s Emmanuel Mensah-Abludo says the durbar to outdoor the Speaker as “Tinmaali-Naa” at the forecourt of the palace at Takpo was full of pomp and glitter.

The event drew people from different backgrounds, including parliamentarians, students, and members of the United Cadres Front (UCF), as well as a delegation from Burkina Faso.

The Paramount Chief of Takpo, Naa Widaana Nanga, indicated that the Speaker was being honoured for his sterling contributions to society. He praised Naa Bagbin for championing a number of development projects in Nadowli-Kaleo as a member of parliament and speaker.

Naa Nanga expressed appreciation to the Sombo community, where the Speaker comes from, for giving the Constituency in particular and Upper West, in general, an illustrious son.

The Speaker, for his part, thanked the Takpo Traditional Council for the honour done to him and his constituents, described Nadowli-Kaleo as a peaceful, well-knit, and united constituency, and pledged to support the MP for the area, Anthony Nwinkaara Sumah, who took over from him, to also succeed.

The Rt. Hon. Speaker expressed the hope that all and sundry will continue to work together to develop Ghana and underscored the critical role of the media in nurturing democracy.
