The Northern Regional chapter of the Ghana Journalists Association, GJA has launched the 2023 GJA awards in Tamale.
The awards seeks to honour and motivate journalists in the region who have distinguished themselves in the year under review. The GJA is therefore inviting journalists to file in their stories for the twelve categories including the Regional Journalist of the year.
The Chairperson of the Association, Yakubu Abdul Majeed in his welcome address, highlighted the role of the media in building a better society.
He pointed out that, as a result of the critical role that journalism plays in society, there is the need for for practitioners to widen their scope of knowledge in the field.
The Chairman expressed confidence in the team put together to do the selection and vetting of this years awards. Filing of stories begins on the 18th of August, 2023 to September 15 at 6pm.
The guest of honour, the Northern Regional minister, Alhaji Shani Alhassan Shaibu said not only has the annual event generated positive momentum in motivating journalists but also galvanized numbers for the Association.
This year’s event is on the theme: “Promoting Responsible Behavior to Protect the Environment: The Role of the media.”
