NPP sets 17 polling Stations for August 26 Special Delegates Confab

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) says all is set for its August 26 Special Delegates Conference to prune down the number of persons who have shown interest in vying for the party’s sole presidential candidate slot for the 2024 general elections.

According to the party’s National Communication Director, Mr. Richard Ahiagbah, 17 polling stations have been designated nationwide for the exercise.

Speaking in a one-on-one interview on GTV’s current affairs programme the “Breakfast Show’, on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, the National Communication Director of the NPP, Mr. Richard Ahiagbah, hinted that all the 16 regions in Ghana will have one polling station each and one at the party’s headquarters at the Asylum down in Accra.

Mr. Ahiagbah announced that 20 proxy voters have been duly approved by the party’s electoral management committee.

In all, about 959 delegates are expected to cast their votes to select five out of the ten presidential aspirants, who will proceed to the second phase of the selection process to choose one person to represent the NPP come the 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections slated for 7th December, 2024.

He explained the delegates who are eligible to vote during the super delegate’s conference are made up of the following categories: all national executives, national council members, one person each from the women’s wing, youth wing, NASARA, three (3) members from each of the diaspora branches, sitting members of Parliament, former national executives, current ministers, among others specified in the party’s constitution.
