Chief of Defense Staff, Vice Admiral Seth Amoama has called for more interactions between the media and the Ghana Armed Forces to promote an amicable relationship between the Armed Forces and civilians.
According to him, there have been some unsubstantiated publications about the military which put them in the bad light before civilians.
In a typical scenario, he mentioned the Ashaiman military swoop conducted on March 7, 2023 and indicated that lessons have been learnt.
“Our operations in Ashaiman which received a lot of red flags in the media space, I thought that if we have had a better interactions may be the picture painted up there would have been different “, he stated when the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) paid a courtesy visit to his office.
“We cannot sit down when we are charged to protect the territorial boundaries of this country for some parts of the country to be declared a no go area for the people Ghana”, he explained the reason behind the operation.
He, however, added that the Ghana Bar Association understood the circumstances leading to the operation after their explanation.
He also called for more interaction between the media and civilians.
“We are all civilians in uniform, there is no point having a distant between civilians and the military,“ he added.
