Coup d’etats have become a new trend in the West African subregion leaving many countries who are currently free from the plague of coups in fear of the unknown.
However, the Chief of Defense Staff of the Ghana Armed Forces, Vice Admiral Seth Amoama has assured Ghanaians that its outfit has no intent of a takeover.
“ When you hear of coups and things like that, you should be assured that the Ghana Armed Forces we have today is not interested in leading governance”, he disclosed when President of GJA expressed his worry about rampant occurrences of coups in the subregion.
The Vice Admiral Amoama made this statement when the Ghana Journalists Association paid a courtesy visit to office of the Chief of Defense Staff to strengthen relationships between the military and the media.
“After all, if we think that somebody in charge is not doing well, we have four years to use the power of the thumb and I think that is what we should do”, he further stated.
He also added that the military is educated and trained that armed forces has no business in leading governance but to protect the territorial boundaries of the country.
