A Political Science lecturer and Secretary of the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG), Legon, Professor Ransford Gyampo has predicted that the New Patriotic Party, NPP, will pay the cost in the 2024 election for their failure to address Alan Kyerematen’s concerns
“The man has decided to resign and is going independent, be warned that if things are not done right, then it is the party that will suffer” he stated.
He made such predictions during an interview on TV3’s morning show on September 26, 2023. He noted that, if the party do not put structures and foundations right, they will face a proper showdown which may cost their quest to break the eight.
Prof. Gyampo emphasized that Alan’s decision to resign from the party and contest independently will shrink the NPP because he is not a newbie but rather an established figure not only in NPP but in the Ghanaian political space.
He therefore called on the leaders and elders of the NPP to think beyond the immediate consequences that this urgency has brought and strategize for a long term impact of such decisions.
“If you are a master strategist then what you have to do is to begin to think about measures and interventions that will ensure you minimize the damage that this particular decision may be concern with the political party from which he existed” he concluded .
