The Executive Director of the National Service Scheme (NSS), Mr. Osei Assibey Antwi, has emphasised that Agric students play a vital role in shaping the future of Ghana, and their deployment to the farms this year is to put their expertise into action.

In an interview with Thelma Tackie on GTV’s breakfast show, he mentioned that the NSS in Ghana has taken a significant step towards fostering national development through agriculture and soil science by providing 20,000 acres of farmland in Kumawu.

According to him, by posting these students to the farm, they can actively contribute their professional knowledge while gaining practical experience over the course of a year. “It means that if we post you to that place, you will actually impact your professional knowledge on the farm, and at the end of the year too, you will have also gained practical experience,” he said.

He further stated that the development of the nation now heavily relies on the agricultural sector, hence the need to put special focus on students with an agricultural background.

“Those with the Agric background, the focus is on you. And you are going to be posted to appropriate places where you can learn the practical things like farms and other places,” he added.
