UG School of Law cuts sod for new building complex; launches Alumni Homecoming week

The Chief Justice, Gertrude Torkorno is calling on faculties of law and parliamentarians to recognize the pressing need to strengthen their investments in the very essence of the rule of law.

At a sod-cutting ceremony of the new modern University of Ghana School of Law (UG-SoL)  building complex and the launch of the alumni homecoming week, the Chief Justice said the construction of this modern facility will serve as guiding light for leadership and a catalyst for promoting critical thinking in the pursuit of justice.

The new 1,500 seater auditorium is set to become the second largest in the country, following the Accra International Conference Centre, making it a significant addition to Ghana’s event spaces.

It will be equipped with the state-of-the-art facilities, modern classrooms, moot courtrooms, legal clinics and research centres, a fully equipped gym, complete showers, a sky bar and a baby bay.

The Dean of the University of Ghana School of Law, Professor Raymond Atuguba emphasized that the new modern building is not just about bricks and mortar but symbolizes a commitment to providing quality education and ensuring sustainability of numerous initiative incubated at the school over the past few years.

The Chief Justice, Gertrude Torkornoo reinforced the idea that rule of law is not exclusive but belongs to everyone and this facility reflects a shared dedication to justice and accessible legal education for all.

The Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Nana Aba Appiah Amfo said the University will ensure students have a conducive environment and access to the best of resources for their academic and professional growth.

As part of activities lined up for the Homecoming week are; first post-COVID annual Legon Law lecture, muslim prayers, health walk and a thanksgiving service.
