The Upper East Regional Minister, Mr. Stephen Yakubu has made a cash donation of 15, 000.00 to the victims of Garu and Bugri who were involved in the military attack on 29th October, 2023. GHc10, 000.00 of the donation goes to the victims in the Garu District while GHc5, 000.00 goes to the victims in the Tempani District.

The minister announced this after visiting the chiefs of the two towns.

“It is regrettable to know about some of these happenings in our youth. Many of the people have sustained lots of injuries and have not gone to work due to ill-health. I want to wish the victims speedy recovery and hope that this donation of GHc10, 000.00 would help recover some lost energy for our people.”Mr. Stephen Yakubu said.

More than 50 people are said to have been hospitalized following the military attack.

Two communities have been affected by the alleged military attacks in the Garu and Tempani Districts in the Upper East Region.

During the visit of the Upper East Regional Minister Stephen Yakubu at the Garu chief’s palace, they lamented how the attack on innocent people has left them bedridden and unable to go to work.

This compelled the minister to donate GHc15, 000 to the victims in the two communities to help treat themselves from the brutalities. He however could not confirm if the people were from the Ministry of National Security but said his visit was to help him get firsthand information about what happened in the area.

Stakeholders including assembly members and the DCEs for the two Districts have all expressed concern for the youth to remain calm.
