UEFA will co-organize the Ballon D’Or event with France Football starting from next year 2024. The Ballon D’Or in the past years has been organised by France Football. With this new collaboration with UEFA, there will not be any UEFA Player of the Year awards again.
UEFA has decided to cancel the UEFA Player of the Year awards which leaves them with the Champions League Player of the Year and the Euro Player of the Year during the years in which the Euros are played.
The Ballon D’Or ceremony, will be organised by both the France Football & UEFA. With this new format, there will be two additional awards at the Golden Ball ceremony, which are the Best Coach and Best Female Coach awards.
The Ballon d’Or has accumulated more attention than the UEFA awards. This initiative incorporated by the two parties will give some key focus on one.
This year’s UEFA best player of the year was won by Manchester City’s Haaland who had an impressive season in the Champions League.
On the other side, Messi also won this year’s Ballon D’or after is remarkable achievement with Argentina in the World Cup.
