The Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has confidently secured his rightful worth as the next flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party, NPP, after a rather though contest.

The electioneering process, which started at a rather ambiguous grounds, with political analysts skeptical about the victory of the Vice President on the basis of his track record over the past seven years in power and due to the tribal nature of the NPP populace, the VEEP sailed through with a confident 61.43% which is equivalent to 112, 915 votes cast out of the total votes of 183,631 from the 275 constituencies in the country, over his vicious contender Kennedy Ohene Agyapong with 37.4%, former Agricultural Minister, Dr Afriyie Akoto with 0.75% and Mr Francis Addai-Nimo with 0.41%.

Dr Bawumia will now, in a collaborative effort with the members of the party, galvanize the needed momentum to help the party ‘break the 8’ as they prepare to counter former president John Mahama of the National Democratic Congress, NDC and the Alan Kyeremanten of the Movement for Change in the general elections of 2024.
